Impressive cables, great price!,
Before I get in to it, it seems a lot of people reviewing these cables, as well as other Anker products, disclose that they received a free product for testing and review. I have not; these were purchased and this is review is by someone who’s invested personally in this product.
For charging my Android phone and tablet I typically had been using a Belkin charging cable. Some USB cables use all four wires, and some charges do as well, which leaves your Android device charging as if it’s attached to a USB port on a desktop or laptop. This leaves the phone believing the source port can only supply 500 mA (going off memory), some people modify their 12v vehicle chargers to only use two pins internally so phones will charge faster in their vehicle, a bonus if you’re using navigation and the screen is left on. The Belkin cables are designed to avoid this limitation and charge faster than a normal cable, which they do. They also cost a whopping twenty bucks: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00E81JS1E .
I grabbed one of the 3′ cable and plugged it in to my old, generic 3.1 A auto charger and, whuddayaknow, it charged faster. With the Belkin cable if I was running nav with the screen on it would indicate charging, but draw was about as fast as consumption and the battery % never actually increased until nav was killed and the screen shut off. With the 3′ Anker I was able to run nav *and* increase my battery level, simultaneously. And I received 5x as many cables (five Anker, vs. one Belkin) for half the cost. They also seem to lock in to my device tighter. The Belkin locked in tight at first but they seem to get lose over time. I haven’t had enough un/plug cycles on a single Anker yet to make a fair comparison in this regard but I’m hoping they hold up better in that regard. Also, as others have pointed out, the plastic base around the B connector is very slim and should fit well with almost any phone case.
Taking a glimpse at other reviews some refer to these being a heavier gauge cable than other USB cables. Unless those reviewers actually cut these apart and examined the wire, those likely aren’t accurate statements. The sheathing around the wires is thicker, but that’s just a rubber housing that’s thicker, not the wire itself, so take those reviews with a grain of salt. But, despite that, these are awesome cables, and looking at charge graphs I can see that the charge rate does run much steeper over any time division than using other cables. Color me impressed.

Finest Quality Aftermarket USB Cables That I’ve Seen!!!,
1. The actual build quality of the Anker Micro USB pack actually warrants the $3.33/cable price tag!
2. The cables are made with a heavier gauge wire than the factory Samsung cable is and have a premium, silicone-like feel to the cable sleeve!
3. The fit and finish on the cable ends allows the cables to plug in to very tight spaces, making them seem that they will not have any issues with any type of phone or tablet case.
4. Most importantly, I get a full-speed (1200mAh) charge from these 3 foot long cables! This is spectacular, and the main reason that I was excited to test these cables! This is the difference between a Galaxy S4 that is using Google Maps and streaming Pandora losing battery life, while being plugged in, and charging up to 100% while being plugged in.
As a tech guru, it’s very important to me that my devices are up and running with full charges whenever they’re needed. With these cables, paired with my Anker USB car charger, that I happily paid for, I know that I can pump some major juice into my phone or tablet, even if I’m only driving across town! That’s exactly what I need!
Thanks Anker, for another fine product! I highly recommend these cables!
*Though this product was given to me for testing and review by Anker, this in no way affected the results of my review.
