My highest endorsement.,
I have seen many complaints about drivers not working with Yosemite. Don’t hold that against this printer, as if you research printers long enough you will find that this is a common problem with most printers ( or more accurately stated a problem with Yosemite ).
Aftermarket toner is cheap. As low as $20 for 2 cartridges. Cartridge includes drum, so other than changing toner every 1700 pages there is no real maintenance costs.
It is tiny, fits easily on book shelf, decent build quality, uses little power, warms up very fast, and prints at a more than acceptable speed. I really have nothing at all bad to say about this device. I am impressed.

Installation headaches on two Windows 7 computers, but no problem on Win 8,
The installation program made it to the point of displaying the printer on my Printers list, but I never got a message saying that installation was complete. Whenever I tried printing a test page, a yellow triangle with an exclamation point immediately showed up next to the printer icon on the Printers list and the test page was then stuck in the queue. When I turned off the bidirectional printing, the test page never showed up on the printer queue.
I then tried installing the printer on my wife’s laptop with the exact same results. Finally, I tried installing it on another laptop. It installed flawlessly and printed quickly. The print looked nice too. My best guess is that it installed fine on the 2nd laptop because it was running Windows 8, while the other two were running Windows 7. I think there must be a glitch with the installation software for Win 7, which I’m hoping Canon will fix soon. Since I’m not able or willing to wait around for the fix to come out, I decided to return this printer.
UPDATE: I think I figured out what the problem was after trying to install the printer I purchased afterwards. When I was installing the Canon printer, it somehow added a USB001 Virtual Printer port when there was already a USB001 Local Printer port, thereby confusing the printing system. With the Print Management program in Windows (printmanagement.msc), I was able to delete the extraneous printers, printer drivers, and ports (it was nice to get rid of all the unneeded printers and drivers anyway). When I installed the new printer driver, everything finally worked fine. If you don’t plug in the USB cable until the installation program tells you to and if you pay close attention to the ports situation (right-click on the printer, Printer Properties, Advanced tab), I suspect installation difficulties can be overcome with this printer.
