   I have had a dedicated theater for nearly 10 years and was very happy with movies and TV on my 110 inch screen from my original Benq 7700 720P Projector. My theater is small, just 6 seats in an 11 by 13 room, but there are no windows and lighting is completely controlled. My only motivation to make the upgrade was that I found myself needing to use the room for some office work and the resolution of the 720 projector was not cutting it for documents and spreadsheets. I must say, I am thrilled with the upgrade to the Epson 5030UB. Documents are crisp and clear and not just Blu Ray, but all movies are incredible. My picture was good, but now it is though you are looking at a 110 inch plasma. Did I say I am extremely happy with the picture quality? My only negative, and it is not a deal breaker, the projected image is not exactly 16 X 9. My old Benq was always right on the money and I could adjust the picture to snug up the black velvet on all sides of my screen edge. With this epson my image is about 3 inches wider than it is tall. I have not found anyone else mentioning this as an issue but it does bother me just a bit. As many have noted on other reviews the lense shift is a bit wonky as it does a bit of a flop thing when you first start in a direction after adjusting the other. The result is that you have to go back and forth between vertical and horizontal because on effects the other. Back to the positive attributes, I have ordered a Spears and Munsil set up disk to fine tune the unit but right out of the box the THX mode looks marvelous. One other mention about my setup; in an overhead sound diffuser panel I installed 9 small dimmable halogen down lights. Even though the amount of light that gets to the screen is minimal, with my old Benq, the picture washed out badly if I turned the up bright enough to read something. With the Epson, twice the lumens of my old Benq, I can run those light on full and still have a great picture. I am pleased with my decision to go with the 5030 and would do it again. I added a couple of pictures of my theater just for reference and so you would know I am serious about sound and picture quality. The picture with screen image is from my old Benq.

   Upgraded from a 75″ Samsung LED TV… it just wasn’t big enough! This is my first projector and am very happy with my purchase. I did alot research before selecting this unit – sure there are better projectors out there but for the money this was the best deal. Plus Epson also has a mail in rebate for a FREE lamp through 12/31/2014 ($150 value), however this one should last about 4000 hours per Epson’s web site.

   Picture is stunning out of the box in THX or Cinema mode, I can’t imagine this needing ISF calibration. This unit was installed in my basement where it is 100% light controlled, but the picture is extremely bright even with the lights on. I paired this with a 106″ silver ticket screen and a Peerless PRGUNV Precision Gear Universal Projector Mount, both of which are both sold here on Amazon. This was extremely easy to install with the mount and the fine detail controls are awesome.

   While I waited to purchase this unit 3 months after my basement remodel was completed, I wish I would of bought this right away. Don’t delay you wont be disappointed!

   I absolutely LOVE this projector. I held out on buying the previous 5020 model to get this one, and I am glad I did. This projector is AMAZING. My neighbor has a previous model Epson, and he came over and said he definitely saw the difference. Regular HD TV looks really good, and of course BluRay’s do as well, but 3D blew my socks off. When this projector is kicking 3D quality resolution out, nothing else even comes close!

   100% recommended!

   **** UPDATE 11/24: I mentioned in a comment that I would update this post with feedback regarding the “gaming delay.” When I had a PS3 connected to it, there was a definite half-second delay between a button press on the controller and the feedback on the screen (tested in normal FINE mode, I did not test it in FAST mode, since I was unaware of this option at the time). I tested in FINE mode again when my XBox One arrived on the 22nd, and as it turns out there is NO delay in normal (FINE) mode using the new XBox One and the testing game RYSE. I do not know why the delay is gone, aside from the obvious hardware improvements in the new Xbox, but I wanted to follow up as promised (also, I did not test the PS4, nor did I test any other games yet, so I cannot comment on those).

   The Projector is still amazing. Hope this all helps =)
