With Micro SD expandable to ONLY 32 GB, and the ability to record in 1080p, you should bring a few SD cards if you want to capture several shots. Here’s the one I recommend getting:

The GoPro Side Mount works as designed, but as a buyer, you should be aware that it is not a specialized mounting option for the camera. Nothing that comes with this kit is unique in any way.
The “Side Mount” is exactly the same as what GoPro refers to as their “3-way Pivot Arm” or their Pivot Assembly, which is already included with many of their other mounting options.
CONS
1. This camera works very poorly for low light conditions — my night footage is not useable.
2. This camera works very poorly for hand held moving shots — I filmed a lot just by holding onto a mounting accessory — any slight movement made pictures blurry (and useless) and videos hard to watch due to all the shaking. I will use it more in a mounted capacity in the future.
3. No LCD viewer — of course it would be easier with an LCD screen on the back showing what you are taking, even a very rudimentary one — but the wide angle lens makes it pretty easy to guess.
4. My new product did arrive with a couple of manufacturing imperfections (see pictures), which you’d never expect for a company of this size. Of course they have no bearing on the camera’s functionality (and don’t contribute to my rating), but do speak about the company’s supply chain and/or QA.
Pictures: a) beneath the clear case the grey plastic has a dimple in it
b) some plastic has been crudely shaved off the waterproof backdoor
PROS
1. This little camera is so easy to pack, carry, and use — one can quickly get some nice wide-angle video and pictures, at those times when you suddenly see something you want to shoot.
2. The wide angle lens makes it easy to point and shoot, as wherever you point you will be covering most of the view — and some of your shots will be stunning.
3. Being able to take this camera in the ocean/water makes for some great swimming and snorkeling shots.
4. The microphone works quite well also, picking up a fair bit of detail, as long as there is not too much extra noise around you.
5. Works well with selfie sticks like http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00LUFLG20?tag=78p-20

Even 1080 Super Wide 60fps I use on the Silver cannot be …,
I chose the Silver since I do not need 4K recording and most non pros do not need it. Most people cannot even play it.
Even 1080 Super Wide 60fps I use on the Silver cannot be played in most media players without being choppy. But the GoPro software easily views and edits it.
The back screen is handy for photos and to setup.
Ok so there has been complaints about battery life. For those people they need to get a simpler camera. There is just no way to have all this processing power (high res and framer rates need power) in a small package. Some mount on a car or bar so they do not feel it but a helmet or body or skis, etc you need it light. So there has to be a compromise.
I do not see the issue with the battery. After 1 hour or more depending on your settings swap out the battery. If your in a race that’s long then get the backpack battery but most people are not going or need to record that long before taking a break.
Understand the technical limitations with high res and battery and change the battery when you take a break, etc. No big deal.
If you want battery life then get a large bulky cam from another vendor or get a small cam with crappy resolution. Either way you lose.
Sometimes you need to understand where the technology is today and accept the limitations. One day we will have unlimited battery life but not today. And GoPro is still the best in the game!
I always want the best and was ready to get the black and glad I got the Silver. Way more than I need and 1080 SuperWide is crisp and clear.
This camera even does more I believe it will do 4k at a lower frame but who needs that resolution unless your making it for the big screen theatres or Imax.
This is the perfect camera, screen and quality!
